A TRIBUTE TO OUR ANZAC'S

Posted in Unspecified

  A TRIBUTE TO THE ANZACS
ANZAC Day, the 25th of April...
Is a very special day in Australian (and New Zealand) history.
ANZAC stands for the Australia New Zealand Army Corps and...
The reason that it is so important is that on the 25th of April, 1915...
Australia went into battle for the first time as an independent nation.
We had only became a country in 1901
Before that we were a loose collection of colonies-
-and this was our "baptism of fire" on the shores of Gallipoli.

Our troops landed on beaches (now called ANZAC cove)

On the Turkish peninsular at dawn in this fateful day.

They suffered a terrible defeat but our men-

-fought with great bravery and would have succeeded if not for one...

man-Mustafa Kemal, later known as Ataturk.

Although it was a disaster it brought out some great characteristics...

Of mateship and sacrifice for this little island continent of ours.

We talk about the "Anzac Spirit"

Which was born that day and use the term as a mark of the greatest respect.

We use this day to remember those who fought, and...

Especially those who fell, in this war and all subsequent wars.

The Battle

In 1915 Australia along with its Allies  (Britain, France and Russia, Italy, and Japan) was at war, fighting the Central Powers (Germany, the Ottoman Empire aka Turkey, and Austria-Hungary). When most people think of WW1 they think of fighting Germans in the trenches across France however Russia was also under attack from the Turks in the Caucasus. To aid their plight the Allies hatched a plan to distract Turkey by attacking the Gallipoli Peninsula, on Turkey's Aegean coast. Once the peninsula was taken the Allies would be able to take control of a strait of water called the Dardanelles and lay siege to Turkey's main city, Istanbul (then Constantinople).

Australian and New Zealand troops then training in Egypt were tasked to participate in the attack. On April 25, 1915, the Australian troops landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula on what they had been told was a nice friendly flat beach. Instead, they found that they had been landed at the incorrect position and faced steep cliffs and constant barrages of enemy fire and shelling. Around 20,000 soldiers landed on the beach over the next two days to face a well organised, well armed, large  Turkish force determined to defend their country - and led by Mustafa Kemal, who later became Ataturk, the leader of modern Turkey. It is said that Ataturk just happened to be holidaying in the area and took control of the Turkish forces right at the last moment. Thousands of Australian men died in the hours that followed the landing at the beach that would eventually come to be known as Anzac Cove.

What followed was basically a disaster. The Aussies hung in for several months however could make little headway against the Turks. They had nowhere to go and no real hope however they dug in tenaciously and absorbed whatever the Turks threw at them. Many thousands of Aussie and Kiwi soldiers died, not only from the battle but from disease brought about by the poor living conditions. However from this disaster was born the image of the Aussie Digger, a brave and laconic battler, betrayed by the mother country but facing impossible odds with humour, courage and mateship.

Eventually the ANZAC troops were withdrawn from the peninsula having accomplished nothing. Those that survived went on to fight on other fronts but it was at Gallipoli that the legend was born.

For the Fallen

They shall not grow old,
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning,
We will remember them.

                                                           G'day

It is the most glorious autumn weather here....
Like summers last gasps of warm air before she goes into...
Hibernation and sits out the winter air.
We are still in need of a rain, a deluge might be nice
because it is so dry and everything is withered up and trying
to hang out until some rain arrives and gives the plants a new
lease of life. Our garden looks a bit like a desert, so brown.
It makes one a bit depressed to look at it struggling along
through all the terrible heat we have had up until now.
But beautiful autumn has come to lighten ones spirit and
make everything mellow again. A fantastic time of year autumn.
My favourite season...I would have to say.
I have to go do some mundane work now...
Like hang up some washing and finish cooking tea.
Have a roast in the oven and need some nice vegie's to go
with it. Would you like to come share it?
Hope this small paragraph finds you all well.
Take good care and stay safe.
HooRoo and see you later.

G'day...I'm alive!

G'day there!
Been a while since I last checked in and said g'day and how you be?
Well I have been absent because I insisted on falling head first down our
driveway and stuck my teeth through my lips and bruised my chest so bad
I could hardly breath, They thought I may have a heart attack because
I did such a good job of knocking the stuffing out of my self.
But...The good news is it takes a fair bit to kill one's self it seems!
Thanks for small mercies...Hey!
Time stands still for no one and so a lot of water has flown under the
bridge since I last dropped by to say g'day.
I hope you all have been fairing better than me.
Okay this is just a short post to let you know I'm alive and still
out here albeit a bit battered and bruised.
Will check in later when I find something a bit interesting to post.
Until then you all take good care.
Love & Hugs always from me.

A LOVING GIFT...IS A HUG!

Posted in Unspecified

~ A LOVING GIFT IS A HUG~

I have something special just for you

It’s a warm touchy freely gift

That cannot be wrapped,
It's a package of something we call love
and can be given back with no cost at all!

It has a fuzzy kind of warmth and gladdens the heart
Designed to bring you smiles and cheer
Especially given to you with love, love and more love;
With each new day, that Dawn’s.

It smiles for you and lifts you when you are down
And holds you very near and close at heart
A tenderness that comforts amidst the pain,
A shower full of love, love, love;

It has a unique quality all, its own
To bring sunshine into everyday
Even when the clouds hang low and dark
With tears of rain on the way.

Yes, I have this special gift for you but…

Please open it with great care and tenderness
And keep it close by for when you need some love
Feel my presence, just waiting to give a special hug;

For all the times this special gift of a hug
Is taken out with love, love, love;
You'll know that I'm sending you a very big…
Warm and precious hug!

"I'M 98 YEARS OLD...SO I'M TELLING EVERYBODY"

Posted in Unspecified

LOVE THIS LITTLE YARN

An elderly man walks into a confessional at the local church in his area
.
The following conversation ensues:

Old Man...

"I am 92 years old, have a wonderful wife of 70 years.
Many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Yesterday, I picked up two college girls, hitchhiking.
We went to a motel, where I had Sex with each of them three times."

Priest:  "Are you sorry for your sins?"

Old Man:  "What sins?"

Priest:  "What kind of a Catholic are you?"

Old Man:  "I'm Jewish."

Priest:  "Why are you telling me all this?"

Old Man:  "I'm 98 years old...I'm telling everybody."

It's true my grandmother God Bless her beautiful soul.
Always said...Men could be 100 not out and the last thing to die would be their most prized piece of anatomy.
They are driven by testosterone poor blokes!

I wish you all Love  And  Many Blessings
Grace, Luck, Good Friends &Happy families...
But most of all Good Health ...Of Mind, Body & Soul.
The beauty of  Angel's Watching Over You
And the magic of fairies flitting about...
Love, Peace & A Smooth Road Stretched Out Ahead.

"Muldoon and his dearly departed dog."

Posted in Unspecified

purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
HELLO
Where would the world be without the Irish Jokes...
The Irish are wonderful people and know how to laugh at themselves...
Just like we Aussie's know how to laugh at our selves.
It's a gift really to be able to let people poke fun at you and your religion or lack thereof...
It's a trait many other nations could pick up on and stop taking themselves and their religion so seriously.
Lighten up folks, God, The Great Spirit...
Or what ever title you give him, knows we humans have a lot of learning to do yet
And to Bo sure, would be having many a chuckle from on high.
Thinking when are these subjects of mine going to learn anything?
THEY JUST KEEP ON REPEATING THE SAME MISTAKES OVER & OVER AGAIN!

purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company.
One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked,
"Father, my dog is dead. Could ya' be saying' a mass for the poor creature?"
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
Father Patrick replied,
"I'm afraid not;
We cannot have services for an animal in the church.
But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe.
Maybe they'll do something for the creature."
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
Muldoon said,
"I'll go right away Father.
Do ya think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?"
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
Father Patrick exclaimed,
"Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus!
Why didn't ya tell me the dog was Catholic?"
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
This little yarn reminds me of my childhood days, when we had religious instruction in the schools...
And when the Catholic priest came around to the school he wouldn't let his little flock of 3 play with all
the rest of us 6 kids of because we were heathens of the anglican/Church of England faith.
Now when I look back and think of his bigoted views I just smile because there is not too much difference at all. But as this little story depicts they can be bought for a price of a good donation.

"JUST A THOUGHT"

Posted in Unspecified

G'day & Hello!
 purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
I was reading today and I came across this little verse or quote and...
 I thought how true.
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
"A horse is the projection of peoples dreams about themselves...
Strong, powerful, beautiful...
And it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence."
 purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
Written by Pam Brown
purplefleur.gif picture by Magickal-Crystal
The horse is such a noble creature and has been a means of transport...
For the last 6000 years, working diligently in all manner of places.
It is a debt we can never thank the horse enough for.
And if the human race could be as beautiful...
Strong and noble, instead of just dreaming about being so...
Then the world would be a better place.

SOME INSPIRATION...PLEASE SHARE YOUR SPOON!

Posted in Unspecified

Copyofmaskedspsb2222-1.jpg picture by Diana236-7

HELLO

Copyofmaskedspsb2222-1.jpg picture by Diana236-7

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,

"Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."

The Lord led the holy man to two doors.

He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table.
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.

The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.
They appeared to be famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles...
That were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms,
They could not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."

They went to the next room and opened the door.
It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons...
But here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The holy man said,
"I don't understand."

It is simple," said the Lord.
"It requires but one skill...
You see, they have learned to feed each other.
When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of you.

Remember that... I will always share my spoon.

"HAPPY VALINTINE'S DAY"

Posted in Unspecified

 Valentine Wishes....

On Valentine's Day each year
Tradition is candy, cards or flowers
Instead, I'm sending you a bouquet
Of good wishes, my love and prayer.

May this Valentine's Day
Be one filled with love
As your heart freely overflows
With blessings from Heaven above.

May you find reasons to smile
Warming your heart every mile
May your day be filled  with happiness
And totally free of daily stress.

May the hidden love tucked inside my heart...
That I send across the miles
Perfect your day; my dear cyber friends
From beginning until it ends.

May this day of LOVE be special
Without pain cares or tears
May your heart always hold dear
Our friendship throughout the years.

As this day fades away and ends
And the calm of the night brings out the twinkling stars
May each new waking daylight hour
Be filled with God's healing power of LOVE.

May hope and sweet dreams never cease
May you always find perfect peace
In knowing you have a true friend
And knowing God's love is endless and never ends.

Happy Valentine's Day!

HOW WOULD YOU DEAL WITH THIS DILEMMA?

Posted in Unspecified

I received this little entry from a friend in India
Who has a blog/journal in another location.
I really like how this persons mind worked when asked this question.
The people asking the question also liked it because he was the winner.

Very very Impressive Question and Answer...

 Question:

You are driving along in your car on a
wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when
suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three
 people waiting for a bus:

An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
An old friend who once saved your life.
The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
Which one would you choose to offer a ride to,
knowing very well that there could only be one
 passenger in your car?

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

* You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first;
 * Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life...
And this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.
 * However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

The candidate who was hired
(out of 200 applicants)
Had no trouble coming up with his answer.
Guess what was his answer?

He simply answered:

*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital.
I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Sometimes...
We gain more, if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.
Never forget to...
"Think Outside of the Box."

"EVEN GOD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOUR"

Posted in Unspecified

Copyofmaskedspsb2222-1.jpg picture by Diana236-7

EVEN GOD ENJOYS A GOOD LAUGH!

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black:

1. He called everyone brother

2. He liked Gospel

3. He didn't get a fair trial

But then there were 3 equally good arguments...

that Jesus was Jewish or Greek:

1. He went into His Father's business

2. He lived at home until he was 33

3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin...

And his Mother was sure He was God

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian:

1. He talked with His hands

2. He had wine with His meals

3. He used olive oil

But then there were 3 equally good arguments...

 that Jesus was a Californian:

1. He never cut His hair

2. He walked around barefoot all the time

3. He started a new religion.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments...

that Jesus was an American Indian :

1. He was at peace with nature

2. He ate a lot of fish

3. He talked about the Great Spirit

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:

1. He never got married.

2. He was always telling stories.

3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all...

three... really good reasons & proof that Jesus was a woman:

1. Fed a crowd at a moment's notice, when there was virtually no food!

2. Kept trying to get a message across...
To a bunch of men who just didn't get it!

3. And even when DEAD...
Had to get up because there was still work to do.

now you see why it is a real possibiiIty, Jesus was a woman.

maskedspsb2222.jpg picture by Diana236-7
FOOTNOTE...
For anyone out there in cyber world who doesn't have a sense of humour...
LOOSEN UP, SMILE, ENJOY THE WORLD...
BE KIND AND LOVING AND TREAT EVERYONE AND THING WITH RESPECT.
BECAUSE AS THE MESSAGE ABOVE SAYS EVEN GOD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOUR.
And HE wouldn't want any less, of any of his flock of wayward humans...
Now I don't care what you call your Deity...
He, She, by what ever name you worship him or her. God is God...
The one Great Spirit who is the great power and creator.
Love & Hugs From Dawnie xxx

"SOME FOOT IN MOUTH TESTAMONIALS"

Posted in Unspecified

  G'day there!

Trust all of my fellow JH journal keepers are all well and in fine fettle.

In one of the groups I am in these little "FOOT IN MOUTH" Snippets

were passed around and so I thought I would share them and hope you have

a good chuckle and see the funny side of foot in mouth disease! LOL!

Think before you speak...
Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak -
The last one is great!
Have you ever spoken and wished that you could
Immediately take the words back...
Here are the Testimonials of a few people who did...

FIRST TESTIMONY:

I walked into a hair salon with my husband and
Three kids in tow and asked loudly,
"How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?"
I turned around and walked back out and never went back.
My husband didn't say a word...
He knew better.

SECOND TESTIMONY:

I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls.
I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using.
After browsing for several minutes,
I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen
Who works at the store. He asked if he could help me.
Without thinking, I looked at him and said ,
"I think I like playing with men's balls."

THIRD TESTIMONY:

My sister and I were at the mall and
Passed by a store that sold a
Variety of candy and nuts.
As we were looking at the display case,
The boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help.
I replied, "No, I'm just looking at your nuts.
My sister started to laugh hysterically.
The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away.
To this day, my sister has never let me forget.

FOURTH TESTIMONY
:
While in line at the bank one afternoon,
My toddler decided to release
Some pent-up energy and ran amok.
I was finally able to grab hold of
Her after receiving looks of disgust
And annoyance from other patrons.
I told her that if she did not start behaving
"right now" she would be punished.
To my horror, she looked me in the eye and
Said in a voice just as threatening,
"If you don't let me go right now,
I will tell Grandma that I saw you
Kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!"
The silence was deafening after this enlightening xchange.
Even the tellers stopped what they were doing.
I mustered up the last of my dignity and
Walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow.
The last thing I heard as
The door closed behind me,
Were screams of laughter.

FIFTH TESTIMONY:
Have you ever asked your child a question too many times?
My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training
And I was on him constantly
One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch

In between errands.
It was very busy, with a full dining room.
While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny,
So of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter,
And she was clean.
Then I realized that Danny
had not asked to go potty in a while.
I asked him if he needed to go, and he said "No".
I kept thinking "Oh Lord, that child has had an
accident,
And I don't have any clean clothes with me."
Then I said, "Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?"
"No," he replied.
I just KNEW that he must have had an accident,
Because the smell was getting worse.
So, I asked one more time,
"Danny, did you have an accident?"
This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants,
Bent over, spread his cheeks and yelled
"SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!"
While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing,
He calmly pulled up his pants and sat down.
An older couple made me feel better,
Thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST TESTIMONY:

This one had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days
And a very embarrassed female news anchor who will,
In the future, likely think before she speaks.
What happens when you predict snow, but don't get any?
We had a female news anchor who,
The day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't,
Turned to the weatherman and asked:
"So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?"
Not only did HE have to leave the set,
But half the crew did too, they were laughing so hard!

enjoy!

A TOUCHING TAIL ABOUT A LIZARD.

Posted in Unspecified

I am told this is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.
Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.
When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there
because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet.
He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail,
it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.

What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!
In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving,
it is impossible and mind boggling.
Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years!
without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard,
what it has been doing, and there appears another lizard, with food in its mouth.
Ahh! He was stunned and touched deeply.
For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years.

Such help! Such a beautiful love!
Such happened even with this tiny creature.
What can help do?
It can do wonders!

Help can do miracles! Imagine?
It has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years,
Without giving up hope on its partner.
Think, will u do that to your partner?

Think that you will do it for your Mother,
Who brought you into this world after carrying you within for NINE long months?
Or at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, Brothers and Sisters?

Imagine what a small creature can do...
That a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.

I was touched when I heard this story and started wondering about relationships...
Between family members, friends, co-workers, brothers, sisters.

*TIME TO ACT... SPREAD THE LOVE WITHIN... SELFLESSLY*

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
*And in the end...
It's not the years in your life that count.
It's the life in your years
-- Abraham Lincoln--
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

*The mark of our ignorance...

Is the depth of our belief in injustice and tragedy.

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world,

The master calls a butterfly.

--Richard Bach--

"A WORD FROM CRANKY OLD MAXINE"

Posted in Unspecified

Maxine is one cranky old Sheila to say the least...

But she has put many a smile on faces near and far!

So she can't be all bad.

A friend sent me this little snippet from the pages of Maxine

And I thought it is so true, a big proportion of humanity are...

Sitting in front of their computers, what did we do before the computer age?

Oh! Well, don't worry about it just enjoy your fluid what ever sort takes your fancy

whether it be tea, coffee, wine or beer so get a cup or glass and sit down in front of

Your Computer and while away a few more hours.

Smile, be happy and have a laugh.

Last night my sister and I were sitting in the den and I said to her,

"I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent...

On some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive.

That would be no quality of life at all.

If that ever happens, just pull the plug."

So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch.
